Barfleur is a very old port town, first Roman then Viking, and was long one of the major ports on the Norman coast. According to tradition, the Mora, the ship of William the Conqueror, was built in Barfleur before the conquest of England. This maritime history, enriched by the tragic episode of the White Ship, highlights Barfleur's importance in the Middle Ages.

The port, only 200 meters from the Gîtes des Augustins, offers all the maritime ambiance of the village. Here, you can encounter boats, walkers, fishermen, and sometimes local festival decorations that give Barfleur an even more lively charm.
